What To Expect

What to Expect in Rehab

Your First Call, the Cost, What to Bring, and What Your 35 Days Look Like

Here at Impact Recovery Center, we know the hardest part of rehab is usually the part before you arrive: not knowing what happens next. So here it is, plainly. What we’ll talk about when you call, how paying for treatment works here, what to pack, and what a day inside our 35-day 12-step program actually feels like. No obligation, no judgment, no surprises.

What to Expect at a Glance

The First Call

One confidential conversation with our admissions team about where you are, what you’ve tried, and whether Impact is the right fit. We’ll talk cost openly, and we’ll help you sort out detox first if you need it.

The 35 Days

Immersive 12-step work on a private property in Odenville, AL, with no more than 14 clients at a time. You’re paired with a personal recovery director and an individual counselor from day one, and your family starts their own process alongside you.

The First Call

What Happens When You Call Impact Recovery Center

The call is where everything starts, and it’s simpler than most people expect. You’ll talk to a real person on our team, not a call center. Our admissions team has walked people through this conversation hundreds of times, and many of them have sat on your side of it. You don’t need to have anything figured out before you dial.

What We’ll Talk Through on the Call

  • Where you are right now: What you’re using, how long, and what’s already been tried. Honest answers help us give you honest ones back.
  • Whether Impact is the right fit: Our program is built for adults who want more than a short stabilization, and we’ll tell you if we think you’d be better served somewhere else.
  • Detox, if you need it: We don’t have a detox on site, and we ask that you be fully detoxed before Phase 1. We’ll help you find a detox facility and coordinate the handoff.
  • Cost, in plain terms: You’ll hear what the 35 days cost from a person, on the phone, and you can ask every follow-up question you have. See the next section.
  • Your family: Who we’ll be in touch with, and how our Impactful Families program brings them in.

What Happens After the Call

  • Admissions are by appointment: We set your arrival date together and move as quickly as your situation allows.
  • Detox first, then Odenville: If detox is part of your path, that happens before you arrive so your first day here can go straight into recovery work.
  • Travel is handled: We provide transportation from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airports.
  • You’ll know what to pack: It’s a short list. We cover it below, and our FAQ page has the rest.

The Cost

What Rehab Costs at Impact Recovery Center

Cost is usually the question people are most afraid to ask, so we’d rather you ask it early. We don’t publish a number on this page because the right answer depends on your path through our program, and because a number without a conversation raises more questions than it answers. One call to admissions gets you a clear picture.

What Your 35 Days Include

  • Your residential stay at Impact Renewal, our private 64-acre property in Odenville, AL
  • A personal recovery director and an individual counselor, yours from day one
  • Daily 12-step work, groups, and one-on-one sessions in a community capped at 14
  • The Impactful Families program running alongside your treatment, with weekly family calls
  • Bedding, towels, and airport transportation
  • A plan for what comes next, built before you leave, not at the door

How the Cost Conversation Works

  • Ask on the first call: Our admissions team will walk you through the cost of the 35-day intensive and any step-down phase you’re considering. You don’t have to wait until you’ve decided.
  • Payment options: Every situation is different. Contact admissions to discuss the payment options that may fit yours.
  • We’ll talk it through with your family: Cost is often a family decision. We’re glad to have that conversation with a spouse, parent, or whoever is helping you get here.
  • Detox is separate: Since detox happens at a different facility before you arrive, you’d ask them about their own cost. We can help you make that call.

What To Bring

What to Bring to Rehab

Packing for rehab is easier than packing for a weekend trip. You need less than you think, and we provide more than most people expect.

Your Packing List

  • About a week of athletic or athleisure clothes: Comfortable and casual is the whole dress code. We have laundry, so a week is plenty.
  • Basic toiletries: Whatever you use day to day.
  • A few personal items, if you want them: Photos, a journal, a book. Optional.
  • Your medication list and any current prescriptions: Bring prescriptions in their original bottles, along with a current list of what you take. Let admissions know about them on the call so there are no surprises on arrival.
  • Contact details for the people you’ll want to reach: Write them down. See the next column for why.

Phones, Mail, and Staying in Touch

  • Personal devices stay put: Phase 1 clients don’t use personal phones, tablets, or computers. The immersion is the point. You can use facility landlines and computers with staff approval during set times.
  • Mail is welcome: We keep a PO Box for client mail and packages, so family can send letters and care packages.
  • Executive Track is different: Professionals on our Executive Rehab track get supervised phone and laptop time during designated blocks each day.
  • Your family hears from us every week: Even when you’re not on the phone, your designated director, counselor, and recovery coach are updating them.

Not Sure If Impact Is the Right Fit? One Call Will Tell You

Your First Days

What Your First Days at Impact Renewal Look Like

The first few days set the tone for the whole 35. You arrive detoxed, which means you’re clear enough to actually do the work, and you walk into a house of no more than 14 people, not an institution. Our owners run groups themselves, every day. You’ll meet them the day you arrive.

Arrival Day

  • Settle in: Get your room, meet the staff and the other clients, and get your bearings on the property. With 14 people at most, you’ll know every name by dinner.
  • Meet your recovery director and counselor: Both are assigned to you from day one and stay with you through your stay, so you’re never explaining your story to a stranger.
  • Learn the rhythm: Group times, meal times, meeting times, and the community guidelines that keep the house safe and focused. Nothing is a mystery after the first walkthrough.
  • Your family gets their first call: Their own process through Impactful Families starts right away, so they hear from us the same week you arrive.

Settling Into the Work

  • Step work begins early: You’ll be working the 12 steps as written, in full, with people who’ve worked them themselves.
  • Groups and one-on-ones, daily: Peer groups led by people in recovery, plus individual sessions with your counselor.
  • Structure you can lean on: Days are full by design. Mornings, meetings, meals, step work, and evenings all have a shape, and that structure becomes the sober routine you take with you.

The 35 Days And beyond

Your 35 Days and What Comes Next

Thirty-five days is Phase 1. It isn’t the end of the relationship. Our continuum can keep you connected for up to a full year, and we start planning your next phase while you’re still in Odenville, so discharge is a step, not a cliff.

Inside the 35-Day Intensive

Three things run together the whole time:

  • The authentic 12-step process: Worked in full as a spiritual program of action, with daily meetings and step study
  • Individualized work: One-on-one time with your personal recovery director and dedicated counselor
  • Impactful Families: The people at home heal in parallel instead of waiting

Step-Down, Alumni, and Life After

  • Impact Transitions in Birmingham: Our transitional living phase is a guided bridge back into work, family, and responsibility, with recovery coaching, ongoing 12-step engagement, and the same team who knew you in Odenville.
  • Alumni life: Monthly alumni meetings, biweekly sponsor nights, and weekly Saturday cookouts that bring current clients, alumni, and families together.
  • Continuing support: Our aftercare plan is tailored to you, with no fixed endpoint. Many of our own staff are alumni, which tells you how long people tend to stick around.

For Families

What Your Family Can Expect

If you’re reading this for someone you love, this section is for you. Families don’t wait in the parking lot at Impact. You get your own recovery process, your own weekly contact, and a clear picture of what’s happening.

Weekly Contact From Day One

  • Weekly update and coaching calls with a Recovery Specialist
  • Weekly calls with your loved one’s counselor to prepare for joint family sessions
  • Weekly Al-Anon meeting access and a facilitated virtual group working the Al-Anon steps through the “Paths to Recovery” workbook

Family Sessions and Visitation

  • Visitation happens at the family session: We schedule it after your loved one completes their 5th step. It’s a milestone, and it makes the visit mean more.
  • Mail and packages: Send them to our client PO Box anytime.
  • You’re part of the plan: Family involvement continues through Impact Transitions and into alumni life, including our Families & Alumni Center in Atlanta.

The Call Is the First Step. Everything Else Comes After.
